Issues with trunk opening and closing
In the Mercedes E-Class Coupe/Cabriolet (238), model year 2017, the trunk lid does not open or close completely. When opening or closing the trunk lid, a grinding sound can also be heard from the interior. The technician found no obstructions that could cause the described condition.
1. The described issue affects E-Class Coupe/Cabriolet models from model year 2017 onwards. The cause is a defect in the design of the bracket that holds the trunk housing support.
2. Remove the trunk lid hinge cover LH. Install the adapted support bracket bushing LH on the hinge as shown (Figure 1). The part is available from authorized Mercedes-Benz parts dealers. If necessary, install a new trunk lid hinge cover.
