Noise when pressing or releasing the clutch
The mechanic reports clutch problems with a 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan. A squeaking sound occurs when the clutch is pressed or released, which is also heard by the mechanic, but they cannot find the fault. Is this a known issue?
1. This is a known fault. The squeaking sound when pressing the pedal is caused by friction between the retaining clip of the clutch master cylinder lever and the pedal.
2. Remove the retaining clip of the clutch master cylinder from the clutch pedal. Replace it with a new one, available from authorized VW spare parts distributors. Then cut the sealing tape into two strips of 16mm length. Cut approximately half the length of each part and attach the sealing tape to both sides of the new thrust bearing clip, as shown in Figure 1. Install the new thrust bearing clip on the pedal. Check if the fault has been fixed with a test drive.
