Opel Zafira, 2015

Coolant Leak

Problem description

Coolant Leak
An Opel Zafira-C Tourer 2.0 CDTI, year 2015, is experiencing a coolant leak. The mechanic suspects the cylinder head gasket is the cause, but has not performed the repair as they are not certain.

Solution

1. The coolant leak is most likely due to a known sealing defect at the outlet connection of the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler.

2. Drain the vehicle’s cooling system and remove the intake air hose to access the EGR cooler. Remove the EGR outlet pipe and clean the area around the connection. Apply sealant to the area as shown in the image. Install the EGR cooler outlet pipe and the intake air hose, then wait at least 12 hours for the sealant to dry. Refill the cooling system and perform a pressure test to verify that the fault has been rectified.
