Noise from the engine compartment
During acceleration and/or driving on uneven surfaces, a squeaking noise was detected in the front of the Audi A1 1.6 TDI, year 2011. All suspension components that could potentially cause the noise were visually inspected. Additionally, the engine mount fixation was checked.
The issue is caused by excessive friction between the rubber and metal parts of the transmission mount on the upper left side.
To fix the issue, slightly loosen the mount bolts and apply silicone grease to the contact surfaces between the rubber and metal parts of the mount as shown in Figure 1. Tighten the bolts. Verify the repair with a test drive.
