Noise in the passenger compartment
The customer reports a noise audible in the passenger compartment of an Audi Q5, 2009 vehicle. A visual inspection of the engine compartment and both suspension areas did not identify the source of the noise.
1.The described noise in the passenger compartment is known and affects Q5 models up to the 2009 model year. This is due to looseness of the sealing sleeve of the steering column intermediate shaft (Figure 1-2).
2.Check if the sealing sleeve is correctly installed (Figure 1). If loose or displaced, install a new one (Figure 2). This should resolve the issue.
