Reduced A/C System Performance

Problem Description

Reduced A/C System Performance
On a 2015 Mazda MX-5, the air conditioning was not performing efficiently. The technician replaced the seal on the high-pressure line at the compressor connection, as it appeared to be the source of refrigerant leakage. After several months, the issue recurred. What could be the cause?

Solution

1. This is a known issue affecting MX-5 models manufactured between 14/05/15 and 19/06/18. The cause is damage to the high-pressure line. Engine movement creates a hairline crack in the high-pressure line that is difficult to detect visually.

2. Carefully inspect the high-pressure line where it connects to the compressor. If you find a crack, replace the high-pressure line and recharge the system with the correct amount of refrigerant. This should resolve the issue.
