Engine vibration at idle
A VW Passat 1.6 TDI 2012 experiences engine vibration at idle. The technician performed basic checks of the air and fuel systems and checked for any stored fault codes, but no faults were detected.
1. This is a known fault in models with 1.6 TDI engines – code CAYC.
2. The cause is a fault in the fuel pressure regulating solenoid valve. Replacement is necessary. It is installed on the common fuel rail (image above). Verify the repair with a test drive.
