Fuel flap does not stay closed
On a 2008 Volkswagen Touran, an issue arises where the fuel filler flap does not remain closed after refueling. The flap actuator is functioning as a click can be heard when using the central locking. What could be causing this issue?
1. The cause of the problem is the flap actuator rod, which gets stuck in the guide due to improper alignment.
2. Remove the right side trim panel in the luggage compartment. Check the alignment of the guide and rod (Figure 1). Loosen the mounting screws of the flap actuator and align them (Figure 2). Secure the actuator screws and reinstall the side trim panel. Verify that the issue has been resolved.
