An audit examines an existing system, report or entity and it is usually done by external partner. This independent review can be executed on many areas, such as review of Financial Statements, Operational Reports, Accounts, Expenses reports, Standards, etc.
The final result is usually presented in a form of report, were we can see for each criterion if the reviewed subject is meeting the criteria or not and why not.
