Mini Countryman, 2011

Air Conditioning Noise

Problem description

Air Conditioning Noise
A Mini Countryman from 2011 with a 1.6 petrol engine is experiencing disruptive noise during air conditioning operation. The service technician checked the coolant level and verified that all hoses were properly secured but could not locate the source of the noise.

Solution

1. This issue occurs across different engine variants of this vehicle, specifically in models manufactured between 01/10/09 and 10/01/12. The noise is caused by resonance in the AC low-pressure line.

2. To resolve this issue, locate the AC low-pressure line near the front left wheel (LH). You will need a damper, available as a MINI replacement part. Install the damper on the low-pressure line as shown in the image above. Ensure it is positioned 85mm from the corrugated section of the low-pressure line. Activate the air conditioning to verify that the disturbing noise has been eliminated.
