Ford Focus, 2018

Engine failure

Problem Description

Engine Failure

A lack of engine power has occurred in a 2018 Ford Focus 2.0 Diesel. The engine failure light (MIL) also came on. At the same time, the owner also reported a whistling sound during acceleration. The mechanic inspected the engine compartment but could not find any faults in the pipes that could have caused the problem.

Solution

1. This is a known fault that affects several Ford models with 2.0-liter diesel engines manufactured up to 15. 4. 2019. The fault is due to the poor quality of the air intake pipe between the turbocharger and the intake air control flap, which causes air leakage. 2. Remove the air filter housing, the air intake pipe, and the pipe mentioned (Figure 1.1). Clean the marked area (Figure 1.2). Install the modified pipe. Clear the fault codes and confirm that the fault has been rectified with a test drive.
