Engine Warning Light On
A customer with a Peugeot RCZ 2013 reports loss of power, difficult engine starting, and an illuminated engine warning light (MIL). The diagnostic computer shows errors related to the variable valve timing system.
1. These issues are known to affect RCZ models with engine code EP6CDTR (5FG) and occur due to damage to the variable valve timing shaft gear.
2. Check the condition of the variable valve timing actuator and replace if necessary. Inspect the gear for potential damage (see image). If damaged, the cylinder head needs to be replaced.
