Condensation in headlights
The customer reports excessive condensation in the headlights on a Volvo V40, model year 2012. The technician inspected for any headlight damage and thoroughly dried the headlights. The fault reoccurs shortly after. Is this a common problem?
1. The issue is caused by insufficient ventilation holes in the headlights. To resolve this, installation of a ventilation membrane will be required (available from parts distributor).
2. Remove the headlight and rear cover (1). Drill two ventilation holes (2) in the cover using a 13-millimeter drill bit, spaced 17 mm apart (3) as shown in the illustration. Remove all plastic particles – drilling debris. Thoroughly clean the area around the ventilation holes and install the ventilation membrane to cover the drilled holes. Repeat the procedure on the other headlight.
