Oil leak in the engine/transmission area
An oil leak has appeared in the area of the oil pan closer to the transmission on a VW Amarok diesel vehicle, 1.6l, model year 2013. We believe that there is a fault on the input shaft seal of the transmission, but the customer does not allow the transmission to be removed to confirm our assumption. What else could be the reason?
1. The described problem affects several VW models with 1.6 or 2.0 diesel engines. The oil leak is caused by oil traveling along the flywheel mounting bolts or, in the case of an automatic transmission, the flex plate.
2. Remove the transmission and flywheel or flex plate. Clean the threads of the crankshaft flange.
Apply a small amount of sealant to the thread of the fixing screws, as shown in:

Figure 2 – for vehicles with a flywheel
Do not use an impact wrench to tighten the screws. Make sure that the screws are tightened to the correct torque. Install the transmission.
