Older vehicle models are not adequately prepared for today’s pace of life. That’s why experts recommend using an additional safety system that warns of the risk of collision, reminds of the speed limit, notifies when you are driving outside your lane, and more.
RESEARCH – USE OF MOBILEYE SYSTEM TO REDUCE DANGEROUS DRIVING
The IIHS (Insurance institute for Highway Safety) study involved two months of driving in vehicles equipped with Mobileye safety devices. For the first month, volunteers drove in vehicles in which the devices monitored dangerous situations and recorded warnings in a database, but did not warn drivers audibly or graphically. The devices silently recorded location via GPS navigation, hard braking, vehicle speed, and Mobileye warnings that would be issued while driving.
The volunteers received weekly reports the following month during the so-called active period, which listed all warnings they received within a 100-kilometer interval.
The average levels of the following warnings were compared among drivers with telematics:
– collision warning,
– lane departure warning,
– frontal area monitoring and warning.
In addition to the indicators listed above, a comparison was made between drivers according to geographical area – urban and rural driving.
In addition to the indicators listed above, a comparison was made between drivers according to geographical area – urban and rural driving.
In both periods, the rural group of drivers had lower average rates of collision warnings, lane departure warnings, and vehicle progress monitoring. However, improvements were evident in both groups of volunteers, with the rate of collision warnings for urban drivers decreasing by 30% and 45% for rural drivers. The rate of lane departure warnings for urban drivers decreasing by 70% and 45% for rural drivers. The rate of warnings regarding the environment in front of the vehicle decreasing by 39% for urban drivers and 63% for rural drivers.
Edini kazalec, ki se ni kaj dosti spremenil med obema časovnima obdobjema, je pospeševanje.
The research showed that systems and devices for additional vehicle safety actually improve driving safety and help people concentrate on their surroundings and traffic.
The use of collision warning devices or other types of safety systems gives older vehicles a safety boost, allows for a longer driving period for older drivers, and offers stress reduction in everyday driving through urban areas.
